(More customer reviews)I bought this chain for a silver pendant (appx. 1 inch high/wide) that I have, and it's the perfect width and weight. I've purchased box chains similar to this (but the next width down) from other merchants and the quality wasn't that good, so if you're thinking of buying one, I would highly recommend that you go with the 1mm thickness. It's still dainty, but that extra bit of width makes it a lot more sturdy than those that are thinner (I've gone as low as 0.5 or 0.6 mm, I think) - in my experience. The end of the chain hits midway from my neck to my bust line, so my pendant always hangs just above the neck of my tops. It's really a perfect length, though I would recommend an 18" for pendants that exceed 1.5 inches in height. Still, I've had lots of different types of chains for a wide variety of pendants over the years, and the box chain has never failed to be the most durable and flattering!
As for cleaning these types of chains, I definitely recommend that you stay away from traditional silver polish creams or pastes. You'll never get it out of the inside (or in-between crevices) of the little boxes. I learned that one the hard way. Instead, use boiling water and baking soda in a shallow, aluminum foil-lined baking dish. There are tutorials all over the web that tell you exactly how to do it. Trust me. Your hands, stress-level, and jewelry will thank you for it!!
