Hagerty 19888 Hanging Jewelry Keeper Includes Hanger, Tan Review

This hanging jewelry organizer is great. A couple differences between this one by Hagerty and the others advertised on this site: the (nice wood) hanger comes with the Hagerty, all of the compartments have zipper closure (will keep dust out and jewelry in if ever need to travel with it), the material inside the entire keeper is tarnish resistant and the compartments are of varying sizes so you could put a few necklaces as well as lots of earrings. I also put about 8-10 cuff bracelets in the two largest pockets(if they are less than 2" cuffs - my largest won't fit without distorting the bag so they will stay in a different container).

There is no actually designated compartment for rings and the necklace department is much smaller than I needed but I assume this is due to the convenience of being able to take the hanger off (velcro keeps it on) and then roll up the keeper to travel. I have a few rings in the larger compartment while I'm waiting for a ring organizer to arrive from a different company.

One thing you should know, your jewelry (with the exception of the necklace snap holders) will settle to the bottom of each little compartment. There is no way to prevent it but I don't see this as a problem. I've put two sets of earrings into each of the smaller compartments, unless they are really big hoops or danglers, those get their own. It works great this way, you can still see, at a glance, absolutely everything.

WOW! No more dust bunnies and tarnished silver from sitting out on my dressing table "waiting for me" to put them back into the jewelry box...... I will continue to keep rarely worn pieces in the jewelry box and will use this Hagerty keeper (plus an closed acrylic hanging necklace holder and a ring organizer) for my dressing table....... No dust, no (or not nearly as much) tarnish and handy viewable organized jewelry........ amazing how happy something like this can make you!

(More customer reviews)I have been keeping my jewelry in a Samsonite travel case for years now and I could never find a jewelry box that wasn't cheesy-looking, so when I saw this I thought it would be a great way to keep all my necklaces from getting tangled up.Plus, it is a beautiful design and I like the tray at the bottom for my rings.

It's such a great idea: However!
- It's not long enough.Yes, I read the dimensions and no, I didn't bother measuring my necklaces.But they are mostly of the long kind (an inch or two past my collarbone) and so they hit the bottom tray, which then interferes with the rings I've placed there.I needed another 1.5-2 inches in height for this to really be perfect.
-It's a little flimsy, so don't pull too hard at the arms or pick it up by the arms when you have all your necklaces hanging on it.
- It would be great if it were on a "lazy susan" base so that I could turn it without picking it up to see the necklaces that are facing the back.
-I'd prefer the hooks to somehow point out instead of curl in, because it would be a little easier when hanging my necklaces.But then maybe the aesthetic charm would be ruined...

Anyway, all that being said, it's still the best thing I could find after researching a number of similar items and it looks very nice on my dresser and maybe I just have too many long necklaces, so I am happy with it for what it is.But I would have paid more for the extras listed above - so manufacturers take note!

The organizer folds together upright to save space without crushing any earrings.It is light weight yet sturdy enough to hold lots of earrings without toppling over.When it folds out, you can see every pair of earrings you own!Although the organizer itself is attractive, it is colorless so that your eye is drawn to your earrings rather than the product.My husband was very impressed with the clever design and commented on how pretty it looks on my dresser.I told him this was the best 20 bucks (price I paid with shipping) I had spent on something for myself in a while!I highly recommend this product.

It is a very white, flat, cheap looking plastic (on my screen the seller photo looks off-white, but my daughter's furniture is off white and this is almost clashing because it is pure white).
The decoration is nothing more than a sticker that has been applied to the plastic.Every time she touches it I wonder if it is going to break.
The inside is nicer looking than the outside.
On a positive note my 4.5 year old loves this and took it to her room right away to organize her "jewels".It keeps them nicely.
This is WAY over priced for what you get!I would not buy it again and look for a nicer box.I will try and add a photo of this soon to show what I am talking about.

Mine also had a piece of wood broken off but all it means is that the drawer comes all the way out instead of stopping (it doesn't look broken at all). The piece of wood had been glued on the inside, I'm sure the one in the other larger drawer will break off too. The smaller side drawers have a metal piece that keeps it the from coming all the way out, much smarter! If you buy this as a gift, I suggest you open it and remove all the little packaging pieces inside the drawers, the plastic around the horse and wind the back, (so that when the person receives it and opens it, it'll start playing and spinning without them having to wind it).

All & all, glad I only paid $13., and not the full price. Check the dimensions and make sure it's what you're expecting.

(More customer reviews)The picture of this jewelry box really grabbed me, but was so disappointed & insulted when I received it.It is made of cardboard, so it's not durable in the long run.Ours came already crushed in at the bottom.If yours does not, trust me- one or two drops on the floor by your child will create the same defect.It is covered with some sort of contact paper, and you can see the poor job that is done as you can see gaps and where the paper ends/ starts.
The music does not consistently work, and after just a few turns, stops all together.We could not get it to work at all even on the first day of having it.
This item is also A LOT smaller than you would think from the picture so it's not very practical for the long run in keeping your child's jewelry.I was so disappointed.I would never waste my $ or time on this again.

(More customer reviews)This is a nice product. Heavy, durable and classy. THe problem is the box that it is shipped in. The manufacturer's container is thin and fragile and does not ship well. Add to that Amazon ships it in a box that is much larger and surrounds the product with paper. In transit the item slides around, comes out of the box, scratches, looses knobs and comes apart. Additionally, the strofoam comes apart and sticks to the velvet interior! Amazon immediately replaced my first item. Yet the second one is in similar/slightly better condition. Be aware of the shipping problem with this product.

The turn knob seemed to be broken and the entire box is like cardboard wrapped with glued down paper. Really, not worth the money. I returned the item. Big disappointment.
