(More customer reviews)The 2.1mm box chain from Sabrina Silver is thick and shiny. Though it's aesthetically pleasing, the chain does have a flaw. It's probably not that big a deal with most people, but it's a major issue with me.

The problem I had with this box chain was the un-soldered jump ring. For those who might not know what a jump ring is, it's a small metal ring that has a split in it, that usually attaches the clasp to the actual chain. The jump ring is also used to attach charms to a chain/link bracelet, or a pendant to the necklace, etc. Most jewelry has a jump ring or rings but if it's a high quality piece, the jump ring will either be soldered shut or tension set, with such precision, so that you cannot see the split in the ring(or feel it with your finger tip).

To me, this is the weakest link in a necklace. On this chain, the jump ring is NOT soldered shut nor is it tension set in such a way to keep it sealed. If you look at the jump ring, which links the lobster clasp to the box chain, you'll see the split and you can feel that the two sides of the ring do not come together evenly.

Now if you plan on wearing this chain every now and again, rather than constantly, this probably won't be a problem. But if you do plan on wearing it all the time or add a heavy pendant to the chain, I think that the jump ring will either get caught in clothes or hair and start coming apart. Not to mention gravity pulling at the jump ring even if you wear the chain as is.

Again, this might not be a problem for most people, but for me, when I buy a piece of jewelry, regardless of price, I don't want to worry about it.

Another note: the picture on this page is a different clasp than what is described. I did bring it Sabrina Silver's attention (before I bought the chain) and they verified that the description is correct. So, this box chain does come with a LOBSTER CLASP and not the spring ring clasp that is pictured.

Although I only gave three stars to the box chain, Sabrina Silver gets five stars for great customer support. They answered all emails promptly and gladly accepted the return with no questions asked. They issued a refund through Amazon, minus shipping and handling.
